10 Things You Didn’t Know About Leap

Today, we celebrate our first birthday, after launching four years ago on February 29, 2012. In honour of our birthday, we’re sharing 10 things you didn’t know about Leap and announcing the launch of our new site.

Since we’re in the business of designing the best in brands and web, it only makes sense that we set an example with our own website. Introducing: the new leapxd.com, a showcase of some of our best work from the past four years.

We launched on leap year, February 29, 2012 – four years and one birthday ago.

Leap was named in honour of founder Neil’s father-in-law, Denis Racine, and the last project they worked on together before he passed: Leap Consulting.

Since its launch four years ago, Leap has worked out of seven different studio locations in Victoria – soon to be eight.

All of the Leap team works from stand-up desks. We’ve never actually seen our Art Director sit at his desk.

Our office features a wall of 136 pop culture icons, from NWA to Audrey Hepburn.

Two of our designers will be attending 99U, a creative conference in New York, exclusively limited to 1000 attendees worldwide.

Our farthest international client is about 6,500 km away in Belize.

We’ve designed 126 websites since our launch.

Ping Pong skills are a pre-requisite in our office. We weed out the weak ones online; type LEAP from any page on our site and let the games begin.

We have an official, 5-lb. heavyweight championship belt for the in-house ping pong champion. The current title is held by Art Director Simon Robinson, undefeated since 2014.
